To support Dr. Ming-Hsueh Tsai’s "Self-Learning Development Program for Fourth-Grade Students’ Reading Abilities," the foundation reintroduced the KUMON Chinese language program at LongPu Elementary School, providing reading skill development for 29 fourth-grade students.

From September 2022 to June 2023, two reading instruction sessions were conducted weekly. Pre-tests and post-tests, along with surveys, were administered to compare the performance of participating students with those who did not join the program.

Findings revealed that students who participated in the program scored significantly higher on post-tests compared to non-participants, demonstrating the program’s effectiveness. Students with moderate initial reading abilities showed the greatest improvement. Additionally, data analysis indicated that weekly reading hours, reading preferences, and related habits were key factors influencing reading ability.
