• 【Winter Break Edition】 Themed Picture Book Storytelling Event


To enrich students' winter break, an online English picture book storytelling event was held during the winter break, incorporating picture books related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This not only enhances the children's English language skills but also encourages them to care about environmental issues around them.

Dates: February 8, 9
Time: 10:00 – 11:30
Target Audience: Children ages 6-9
Family Participants: 18 parent-child pairs
Activity Flow: Warm-up with morning song → English picture book shared reading → Learning key vocabulary and phrases from the book → Storytelling and Q&A → Small quiz interaction → Moving fingers together to sing goodbye song

• Storytelling Instructor Training Workshop

The workshop aims to pass on the expertise of professional instructors to help students, educators, and interested individuals understand the techniques of storytelling and how to engage children in listening, leading them to discover the world of reading and interact with children in practical teaching environments.

Dates: June 11-12, June 18-19 (3 sessions total)
Time: 09:00 AM – 16:00 AM
Target Audience: Teachers, university students, volunteers with experience in leading storytelling activities, and interested individuals.
Total Participants: 51
Course Content: Understanding the developmental stages of young children, picture book appreciation, techniques for using voice, language, and body movements in storytelling, activity design, sharing of instructor experiences, and lesson plan content design.
※After the course, live storytelling practice and evaluation are conducted, and 23 participants passed the evaluation. 21 of them participated in the summer sustainable reading storytelling activities.

• 【Summer Edition】Sustainable Joy of Reading


To ensure children have a fulfilling and enriching summer, the Kon Wen Cultural Foundation partnered with KUMON to recruit and train volunteer storytelling instructors, select SDGs-related picture books, and after months of careful planning, launched the Sustainable Joy of Reading tour in July 2022, with a total of 76 events across Taiwan.

Dates: July 18 - August 23
Total Sessions: 76
Target Audience: Children ages 5-9 and their parents
Total Participants: 1,138 children, 323 parents
Activity Flow: Warm-up activities → Story introduction → Storytelling → Extended activities using coloring books and crayons → Sharing of creative work → Commemorative group photo

    In each "Sustainable Joy of Reading" event, the storytelling instructors guide children in reading SDGs-related themed picture books. Through vivid images and text, fun and interactive games, children learn about the world around them and understand the ongoing events globally, integrating sustainable concepts into their daily lives.
    Additionally, SDGs introduction cards will be displayed on-site, and a recommended book list related to SDGs will be provided to parents for reference.
    The Kon Wen Cultural Foundation accompanies children through the "Sustainable Joy of Reading" event, making their summer enriching and fulfilling!
    We hope that during the activities, a small seed of sustainability will be planted in each child’s heart, enabling them to contribute to social sustainability in the future!
    Children’s heartfelt creations become their own works of art!
    The power of reading is limitless, allowing children to unleash their creativity!
    SDGs Sustainable Development Goals, nurturing the changemakers of the world!
    The Kon Wen Cultural Foundation accompanies every child in enjoying a joyful and fulfilling summer!

• Parent-Child Shared Reading Workshop

The goal is to guide parents through picture book appreciation and the process of shared reading with their children under the leadership of professional instructors. Through teaching and demonstrations, parents will gradually learn how to guide their children, interact with them, and play together, with the hope that parents will apply these experiences to make shared reading a part of daily life.

Dates: November 5, November 12
Times: 10:00 AM – 12:00 AM for parent-child shared reading with children aged 3-6, 14:00 PM – 16:00 PM for parent-child shared reading with children aged 6-9
Total Sessions: 4
Target Audience: Preschool children aged 3-6, elementary school children aged 6-9, and their parents.
Total Participating Families: 52
Activity Content: Shared reading concept discussion, understanding the relationship between picture books and children's learning, imagination and creativity, understanding picture book elements, interactive Q&A

• Online English Picture Book Education Lecture

Inviting professional instructors to focus on shared reading and teaching of English picture books, this lecture will guide teachers and parents in exploring diverse English picture books, share concepts and methods for shared reading, enhance parents' understanding of picture books, and encourage educators to use English picture books to create more diverse and enriching methods for teaching English.

Target Audience: Parents, English teachers, preschool teachers, educators, students in related departments, and interested individuals.

 Parent-Child Reading Passbook

The goal is to increase reading motivation by setting reading goals and rewards, allowing parents and children to read together at home in a planned manner. By writing in the reading passbook together, it also strengthens parent-child interaction and discussion, fostering a reading habit.

Event Period: March – December
Target Audience: Preschool, elementary, and middle school students and their parents across the country
Total Participating Families: 15 families, 30 participants
